The T. Lahma Experience

I had the opportunity to do an exclusive interview with T. Lahma, the nephew of legendary singer Bobby Brown. In this interview he talks about his music, and being a member of the Brown family.

Yes, this is amazing! We have another member of the brown family that's very talented! His name is T. Lahma. First let me ask you how long have you been rapping?

I've been rapping since 10. I can even remember my first rhyme.

What is the meaning behind the name T. Lahma? And how does it represent you?

T. Lahma actually came about from an inside joke, that you can say transpired into life. You have the Dahli Llama, the Buddhist Monk that represents the inner peace, and wisdom I see everyday. Then you have the animal Llama that as we all know spits, that's what I do. I spit like an animal. So bring it all together, and there you have T. Lahma.

You are also the nephew of the legendary R&B singer Bobby Brown, and the son of Tommy Brown. Did Bobby also inspire you to want to become an entertainer?

Of course he did! He gave me my first taste of what it's like. I knew what I wanted to do with my life. Not necessarily the celebrity aspect of it, but more so the ability to be able to inspire people with his music.

Why did you choose rap?

I wouldn't say I chose rap, I'd like to think the ability to rap chose me. I believe I have an extraordinary story to tell, and I'm fortunate enough to know how to verbally tell it. It's something that just comes natural to me I guess.

Why not an R&B singer, like your Uncle?

Well, if you can give GOD a holler, and tell him to bless me with strong vocal cords like he did my uncle, then maybe I'll change arenas.

Me, Myself, and I also rap, how is your music different from theirs?

Well, the message is pretty much the same, being were just a group of young brothers striving to get ahead in life, and just giving the people a look into our world. I think the point of views are the fine line that separates us as artists and, as well as men. I think every person expresses his/her experiences differently.

Since you are also a member of the Brown family, do you feel like you're in competition with Me, Myself, and I, who are also member's of the family? If so, why? If not why?

It's not competition when you're both striving towards the same goal. At the end of the day, we are family, and it's not about we as individuals getting our shine on, but rather as a family unit. I think or even better I know we push each other when we are recording. It's funny because we truly believe we are our own competition, but in the same since it's not as if we are competing against each other.

Will you collaborate with Me, Myself, and I?

Of course I will It's all C. M. G. In fact, I already have.

Is there anyone else in the music industry that you would like to collaborate with? Is there anyone particular?

Wow! Too many to name. I listen to a wide variety of music so it really just depends on the day. But of course Jay-Z, JadaKiss, Pink Floyd, and Norah Jones, Me, Myself, and I of course. Bad jokeI know, but I want to work with true musicians.

What makes your music different from Me, Myself, and I? What about other rappers in the music industry?

My sound, style, and life experiences are different. I think it's how I put my flow together, not to brag too much but I'm nice.

Are you working on any music right now? If so when can we expect to hear it?

Yeah, I'm cooking up something wicked over here. Fans can expect a fourth quarter release.

How can fans reach out to hear your music?

You can reach me on twitter@t_lahmacmg or Facebook the official T. Lahma fan page.

If you would like to see T. Lahma perform live you can check him out at the Chez-Vous Roller Rink on August 1, 2011. Showtime is 8pm-12am. For more information call (617) 825-6877.

P.E.A.C.E. Nights at Chez-Vous

Chez-Vous Roller Skating Rink a very important landmark in the Dorchester area, this establishment has been owned, and managed by Greer Toney since 1988. P.E.A.C.E. (Positive, Energy, Always, Causes, Elevation) was created by Greer Toney, and promoter Keri Singleton as an opportunity for local youth to be both entertained and positively influenced by recording artists.

The main purpose is to maintain a safe, peaceful, and loving environment for the youth to stay off the streets, especially in the summer when children are out of school with limited opportunities, and places to go. Providing an intimate, and nurturing setting for the youth, and families in the community. The theme of the showcases is positive, and focuses entirely on the upward mobility of the community surrounding Chez-Vous. Their goal is to showcase talented upcoming artist, and provide a venue as a safe haven for fun and creativity.

Chez-Vous want to be viewed as a peaceful environment where families are educated on the values of staying in school, and the hope of relaying the message "Stop The Violence, and Keeping The P.E.A.C.E".

Their goals are to promote peace, and non-violence awareness to the community, and foster a place for the youth, and their families to come to. Every Friday night from 8-12 pm through out the summer some of the hottest recording artists such as Travis Porter, Diggy Simmons, and Lloyd who are confirmed to perform at the venue. They are also planning to have DJ contests, possibly skating contest's, and talent shows which will provide local talent the opportunity meet with management staff at Chez-Vous, and showcase their talent and skills for a chance to perform with a featured artist.

Coming together, and supporting the community is very important to Greer Toney and Keri Singleton so they are reaching out to local agencies to obtain speakers for these events. They want members of the community to get more involved, and provide words of wisdom and encouragement. They would also like the featured artists to speak out to the youth at the events. Support is the key word for successful, safe community events, and that is why the Boston Police Department, the Mayor's Office and TOUCH 106.1 FM are alliances for these type of events. To keep providing events like these for the youth, Chez-Vous can only hope that more people come forward, to help them achieve their goals, and vision of P.E.A.C.E. night.

Tomorrow night June 3, 2011 major recording artist Mishon will be performing at Chez-Vous along with Lilah, Jakkpot, and other local talent. Mishon is known for his role as Taylor Sutton on the ABC series Lincoln Heights. He has also appeared on Soul Train and America's Most Talented Kid. Come out and support P.E.A.C.E. night at Chez-Vous! It's an all ages event! Tickets are $12 at the door! For more information call 617-825-6877.

Taking center and command of their music Boston based music producer’s M.P Scorcese, Herbie Price, and Force-5 are in charge, they have one goal in mind to be heard. These three producers main focus is to, circulate their music through Boston, and other cities, to as many artists as possible. Some of the local artists they have worked with include Chief 100, Crook Firm, Marvel Alexander, and S.T.A.W.Z. Their most recent project involves working with an 11-year old female rapper by the name of Lilah. They produced the track "I'm So Fly" that was played on TOUCH 106.1 FM. This young lady is the hottest young female rapper in Boston, definitely making a name for herself, and her elite team, 5-Star Generals.

Each member of 5-Star Generals each has their own unique style and sound. M.P. Scorcese, also known as Sunni-Carson, is a producer, and also a rapper. He uses heavy drums, piano and synth composition sounds. He has recently released The Mixtape, along with The Sunny Carson Project both available as a free download online now at 5-StarGenerals.com.

The youngest member of the team known as Force-5, is the young Einstein of music. Using percussions, melodic synths, and 70’s bass lines. And last but not least the final member of the dynamic trio Herbie Price. He is considered the perfectionist of the group who tweaks his music until his production is pristine. While in the lab he combines the sounds of boom-bap, 808 drums along with heavy bass lines, and melodies that are truly catchy, and addictive.

I had the opportunity to interview M.P. Scorcese the CEO of the company.

Here is the interview:

Tell me about the name 5-Star Generals? How does this name represent you as a music producer? A 5-Star General is the highest rank in the army, so we feel we are the highest rank when it comes to production.

What type of music do you produce? We produce all genres of music Hip-Hop, Techno, Pop, etc.

What makes your music and sound different from other producers in Boston? Why? Everything from the drum programming, to the instrumentation, also just the way the instruments are played.

Being an independent produce requires you to work twice as hard as major label producer, how do you promote and market yourself? We market and promote our music by all media outlets and the artists.

Have you worked with any R&B singers? Yes, we have. Hopefully we can work with more R&B artists in the future.

Why did you decide to go independent? We decided to brand our name because there are a lot of producers in the industry that no one heard before.

What are the advantages and dis-advantages of being independent? First, it depends if you want world- wide recognition or if you want to maintain your independence. The advantages and dis-advantages can depend on funding and promotion for the project you are working on.

How could someone reach you if they were interested in working with you or buying some of your beats? Contact us at 5Stargsmgmt@gmail.com

M.P. Scorcese , CEO of 5-Star Generals Music Production said” I’m not concerned with the quantity of the music, the quality of my work, and production is more important. Determined to reign and rule in the city of Boston they will not stop! 5-Star Generals in charge!

Mary’s Entertainment Sites

Entertainment has now become an every day part of my life and I’m constantly on the internet looking for the top news stories regarding celebrities, music, and what goes on in their everyday lives. I don’t know of anyone that wouldn’t like to know what his or her favorite celebrities are doing, Popwatch is a site that brings you news about today’s pop culture. Then we have Urban Daily this site keeps you informed about the celebrities. AOL Music Blog is an excellent way to find out what bloggers have to say about the celebrities on continuous basis. Twitter is definitely the way to go, bringing you real- time news as it develops.

Media technology has evolved tremendously in the last few year’s, In 1994 I remember having a cellphone that had an antenna, with a mouthpiece that flipped down for you to talk. This cellphone by far was pretty much the size of the cordless phone that we use in our homes today, but is now considered to be obsolete.

Today cellphones are compact, can fit in your shirt or pant’s pocket and allow you to have instant access to music, videos, news, and endless texting. Welcome to technology of the new age, with more to come in the future.

Lilah at the Hard Rock Cafe

Lilah an 11-year old female rapper from Brockton, Massachusetts is definitely a very talented young lady. She was chosen from thousands of music submissions across 8 states to be one of the 15 finalists in the Music On & Up 14 and under showcase. On May 15,2011 Lilah competed at the famous Hard Rock Cafe located in Boston, Massachusetts Fanueil Hall. Not only did she compete against kids that came from other cities and towns including Kentucky and North Carolina. Lilah is the very first female rapper to perform and represent the rap category at the Music On & Up Showcase!

Music On & Up which is founded by Patricia Duffey and her Marketing and Productions Assistant Debby Scaduto, both of these women have worked very hard to put these showcases toether for kids. The purpose of this program is to support the performers, providing them the opportunities to showcase their talents and love for music creating unique and exciting experiences for them. Unfortunately children 14 and under are limited to where they can perform so this is where Music On & Up comes in. Helping young talented performers to succeed, and gain confidence while pursuing their careers in the music industry is a very important part of preparing for their musical journey.

I have never seen so many talented young performers gather together under one roof. ready to share their talents. Being given the opportunity to hear so many different genres of amazing music during this competition, I knew the judges would have a very difficult task of choosing the winners. After all of the contestants had performed it was now time for the judges to decide on the winners. While waiting for the judges we were entertained by a girl group named Girls Nite Out. Lilah received awards, one for recognition and also for Best Stage Presence. Having witnessed so much amazing talent that day I can truly say that there were no losers everyone was a winner!

Americas Most Wanted Terrorist Dead!

Osama Bin Laden America’s most wanted terrorist leader and mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks that killed almost 3000 people on September 11, 2001 is declared dead. On May 2, 2011 the word had spread Osama Bin Laden dead. The compound that Bin Laden was secretly living at in Abbottabad Pakistan was under attack by U.S. Navy Seal Team.

The world and Time Square New York celebrated the news of Osama Bin Laden’s death. Families of 9/11 victims cried and cheered upon hearing the news. After 10 years of continuous searching for the Al-Qaeda leader the search has ended. The news reported a team of CIA officers had the compound he was living at under surveillance and was just waiting for the word to go in and get him.

What I can’t understand is how was it possible for someone like Bin Laden to live in Pakistan for several months, without being noticed by the people of the town. It is said that he has been living in a small town called Haripur back in 2003. Pakistan said they only knew of him staying in there country since 2009. The compound is reported to have had a fence at least 18 feet tall with barbed wire around the entire compound that stood three stories high. Bin Laden stayed on third floor, video inside of his lair showed two makeshift beds, windows, and rugs covered in blood.

Inside Bin Laden’s compound and the room where he lived there were two makeshift beds, with windows, and rugs covered in blood. Also in one corner of the room a shelf with Vaseline, clear tape, and other types of medicine believed to have been used by him. They also confiscated computers, hard drives, and video footage of Bin Laden of which the audio was eliminated. My question is why did they remove his body so quickly? Why was he buried at sea? And did they give him a proper burial? Will burial of Bin Laden at sea stop future retaliation against the US? See what the Polls have to say. Should photo of Osama Bin Ladens death be released?

New England Urban Music Awards

Charles Clemmons Jr. is the founder of the New England Urban Awards show, First Choice Limousine Service, and a DJ service.  He is currently the owner of the radio station TOUCH 106 FM, an urban run radio station called “The Black Fabric Of The Community”.  He came up with the idea to start his own award show 5 years ago with the concept of bringing artists together to network and showcase their talents, and get to the next level in the music industry.
The New England Urban Music Awards show is considered the Grammys of Boston where the red carpets are rolled out, and everyone is considered a star.  During the event artists gather together to celebrate who was honored every year for their hard work in the city.  There are over 30 categories of music to name a few R&B, Rap, Gospel, Jazz etc.

Every year a different theme is chosen to acknowledge music, last year they did a tribute to New Kids On The Block, this year the theme will be a Tribute To Women In Music.  The show is going to be very exciting we have two female groups performing, female group” Jada” signed to Universal-Motown and new female  pop sensation “New View”.

Other guest performers Status Quo Boston’s Own American Best Dance Crew finalist's who happen to be good friends of mine.  Last year a young lady by the name of Lilah, an 11-year old female rapper graced the stage with her phenomenal performance.   This year she has been nominated for two awards, Female Rapper, and her single CD “I’m So Fly.  She is by far the youngest female rapper going up against older female rappers for an award this week.

I had the opportunity to ask a few friends what their thoughts were about the award show that was coming on Saturday April 30, 2010, Donstress  and Maestro  Zoom who have also been nominated for their single CD "American Dream" at this years award show said, “We are looking forward to the show”, and they also said “We can’t wait to see who win the awards this year”.  Joy Singletary from Roxbury Massachusetts said, “I’m very excited my boyfriend is nominated for Caribbean Male of the year.  She also said, “I hope he takes an award home this weekend.  When I asked my husband what his thoughts were on this years award show he said,  “I think they should have a category for kids”.  “I don’t think the young female rapper should be in the same category as the other nominees”.  “ They should have a categories for kids to compete too”.  I agree with my  husband ,“The kids are the future generation of music”, “They will continue the legacy”.

Lives lost, Abiding Citizens, and Illegal guns

Why are so many innocent people around the world still losing their lives to guns? Why is legislation still trying to deny abiding citizens the right to bear arms? Is it because of something we did wrong? Or, is it because the ATF is still unable to control the illegal guns that are being transported into the United States Everyday.

It’s truly unbelievable how a person can easily obtain an illegal on the streets. All they basically need to buy the gun is money and a seller. These guns are being purchased with scratched off serial numbers making it very hard to be traced back to the original owner. A majority of the guns on the streets today end up in the hands of young kids who are apart of gangs. These Illegal Guns are being used in Drive by shootings where in most cases innocent bystanders are injured or killed just because the gun ended up in the wrong hands.

At least 50-60 people die from gunshot wounds everyday in the United States and this will continue to happen until the ATF and legislation can find a way to control the illegal transporting of guns into our country. While so many innocent people continue to die everyday because of the illegal guns, law abiding citizens are being told they should not have the right to protect themselves or their families against bodily harm or in any life endangerment. Are we wrong to purchase a firearm legally to protect our families from people who are obtaining guns illegally, and using them to purposely cause bodily harm to innocent bystanders?

I use to look forward to opening up the newspaper, turning on the radio or surfing the internet but nowadays it seems like the only thing you end up reading about is someone being killed by a gun. Society has changed drastically over the years, I remember when I was growing up how peaceful the people in the communities and towns were towards one another. The crime and death rate in Boston was not as high in the late 70’s as it is today. If two neighbors disagreed on something they would try to to resolve the problem instead of letting it escalate to fighting and violence.

The mindset of people in today’s society is very unpredictable you have to be very careful of your surroundings, and what you may say to an individual. You’ll never know what they are planning to do, or what their actions are. The people in society today are always very bitter and angry towards one another. Some ones personal life or social issues may also have a huge impact on their behavior and how they react towards other people.

I believe this is primarily a big part of the problem with today’s society. No one should be afraid to walk the streets or get into their car without having to look over their shoulders in fear of being hurt, killed or robbed. A lot of people don’t have respect for themselves so you can’t expect them to have respect for you. You can never predict what is on ones mind or what type of day they had. You can only hope that you are not in harms way and pray to safely make it back home to your families at the end of the day.

Back in 2003 I was a part-time bus driver for the MBTA for about a year. In that year I witnessed and experienced some very scary situations while dealing with passengers in the public. These experiences that I had to deal with left me distraught and very emotional making it very difficult at times to deal with my family at the end of the day.

As of today I have my class A license to carry a firearms which is for the protection of me and my family. Just because I have the right to bear arms, against life endangerment doesn’t make me a killer

Chris Browns Tantrum on "Good Morning America"

Rise and shine Tuesday morning I'm sitting at my kitchen table having breakfast. I decided to watch Good Morning America, and low and behold R&B artist Chris Brown was being interviewed by Robin Roberts. He was on the show to promote the release of his new album F.A.M.E only one problem, the interview didn't go quite well.

During the interview Roberts decided to ask Chris Brown some question's about a person that he wasn't to happy to talk about that person was Rhianna. In 2009 Chris Brown was accused of physically beating Rhianna, and was arrested. Not really interested in what Robin Roberts was asking he responded by saying " I mean, it's not really a big deal to me now, as far as that situation, and I think todays the album day, thats what I'm focused on".

During a brief break Chris Brown went to his dressing room, and decided to take a tantrum. He threw a chair at the window, thankfully no one was hurt during this incident, and no charges were brought against him. Yesterday was the release of his new album F.A.M.E the question now is, "How will this affect his album sales?
